About a year ago I was sitting in a very different place than I am now. I had a masters degree and I was working in Shop-Rite. Due to finances, I had been forced to move 'on a dime', so I had taken a waitressing job as well. My children and I were living amid the chaos of multitudes of boxes that mom had no time or energy to open.
I can remember threading my way through the living room, around the 5 or 6 eight foot high pieces of my daughter's bunk bed. This was more like a bunk condominium really, a remnant of when I had a job and had spent the divorce money on great beds. Being codependent and a card-carrying pain-fixer (See my many writings at my blog about Second Hand Addiction), I had deluded myself that having the bed of their dreams might somehow ease my children's pain. And now this multi-drawered, desk-included monstrosity weaved its way through my tiny new living room like a great wooden Stone Henge housed in a garage, while its duplicate- my son's bed- lay in his aunt's garage. His was too big to even fit in his new room, and all of my children had been sleeping on the floor for two months.
In those days I did a good bit of crying when I came home exhausted from the second job of the day. Both jobs together didn't provide anything close to liveable wage, with the waitressing job hitting new lows for me, money-wise.
With 2 fruitless but necessary jobs and no money for the internet or a phone, I was in a sort of time warp. The universe had slowed me down from typical Lorelei 'get it done' mode. Days and weeks proceeded with no end in sight. I had no time to call for a job or send a resume, and no way to print or send one even if there had been time. As the weeks went by we opened the boxes, and got the two remaining beds put together. Slowly, ever-so-slowly, I purchase the 3 for one phone-internet-cable deal and got the computer up and running. I then bought one black ink cartridge for $29.50. (It was a fortune at the time, so I remember the price.)
I would like to say that we were then up and running. But the progress was more like what a baby does. First we crawled. Then we teeter-tottered. Then we hobbled. Then, like the Winter Warlock in Santa Claus is Coming to Town, we finally put one foot in front of the other and walked. These days with a job that I love, that at least takes care of essentials, we are doing a sort of steady march. We are not running or even jogging yet- but we are going forward with assurity.
And it is interesting to note that the reason I am where I am now was all because I sent a card. And it was a "Law of Attraction" type of phenomena, which I will explain.
Over the course of that year I was speaking of I had gradually gotten closer in my job search to something that I would love and be suited for. I was now looking in the arena of substance abuse prevention. I had pursued and received a scholarship to enhance my knowledge in that area. By the end of the school year I was in the world doing informational interviews for the field I truly wanted- finding out gradually what I was missing and filling in the gaps. I went to an interview that I felt wonderful about, and thought 'perhaps this is 'it.'
In my quest for money, I had been a representative for an online card system that I loved. Then in financial distress my license had lapsed. These days I could not actually sell the system- but I still had the ability to use it. Previous to that I had been hideous with things like sending cards. But this was so easy and effortless- and I loved to choose my own card from the thousands they had. When I had time I would create a card using my own pictures. I didn't have to go to the store or have stamps, and the price for a card was much cheaper than Hallmark. So I would make a card on the internet from my home, and put the note in my own handwriting, for which the system had a font. Then I would pretty the card up with colored lettering or a photo of myself on the inside and vary the address font to look like the card had been custom-printed by a designer. Then I would hit send and wait while someone in Salt Lake City Utah printed my beautiful card to look as if I had written it, stamped it, and sent it out in the mail!
So that day after the interview I feverishly came home and went to my online card system. I paid particular attention to the minutia this time, and created the follow-up-interview 'card of my dreams.' I worked and reworked that card- something you can't do with a regular card. The interviewer and the agency had struck me in a positive way, so I carefully crafted the words to tell her so, in a way that was both professional and meaningful. Finally content with the results, and with hope in my heart, I hit the send button.
A few days later when I got a letter saying that they had hired someone else.
I'd like to say that this didn't crush me- but I would be lying. I knew this job was perfect for me. It was everything that I had dreamed of for so long. I bravely tried to rally my usually ever-present positive outlook. But this time, after two solid years of being unable to pay for the basics of life, my smile was starting to droop.
Two days later the phone rang. I picked it up, expecting a bill collector. Instead it was the woman who had interviewed me. She told me that she had just gotten my card that day, and she was very touched by it. She then proceeded to tell me that she had changed her mind and wanted to hire me after-all. That same woman is now my boss, and one of the most extraordinary woman I have ever had the pleasure to know.
So in summary what had happened was that I had used beauty and positive words- two powerful attractors-and sent this message into the world. I had basically 'sent a smile,' and I had gotten this positive energy back in spades. And you don't get much more 'Law of Attraction Energy" than that.
I am happy to say that I am diligently increasing my income through this card system again, and also sending out my own special smiles. You can check the system out here, or with the link on the sidebar. And just remember, as you practice the law of attraction, to continue to send out your own smiles. Choose whatever methods you prefer, but be assured that you will get your smiles back.

The Secret and The Concept of Money
Here is a quote from the article I wrote I wrote on my Squidoo lens about money and the movie The Secret. Please read it for insight on how to think of money as you manifest.
Money & The The Movie The Secret- Two Great Tools for the Life of Your Dreams
There is a lot of criticism recently about the movie the Secret. The Secret was a movie that was very impactful to me-and I think to a lot of people- because it opened up a conversation and put into words a whole new mindset. Now it is true that many of the ideas in The Secret date back thousands years, and strongly rely on the ideas that were put together by the famous philosopher/thinker Abraham Hicks. But still one cannot deny the power of the tool that finally made these ideas common among the population.

I would also love for you to read about my newest experiment in manifestation at my hub at http://hubpages.com/hub/How-To-Manifest-Anything-You-Want
Here is an excerpt from that article:
Day 1- Manifesting a "Lean, Mean, Money Makin' Machine"
Here is my premise...The physical universe, including our bodies and the things that happen to us, are completely at the mercy of our thoughts, feelings, and energy. This is true whether we are thinking positive or negative. What we think, feel, and believe will become reality in physical space, time, and form.

The Concepts of Heaven, Hell, and The Law of Attraction Energy
When I was young, and I thought of Heaven and Hell, I always became confused. Something about it just did not seem right. And I have been thinking a lot about this discrepancy, as it seems important to the question of how we stay in the law of attraction energy. So now all of these years later, I have put some thoughts on paper. I believe that these thoughts can help us to stay in a positive energy space- attracting the good, not the bad. Below is an excerpt from what I wrote on my hub. I hope you will visit it.

Let us consider that Jesus’ point was not that we become Christians, then get the prize- which is the Kingdom of Heaven. After all there was no such thing as Christianity at the time, so how could he be discussing that. So instead let us suppose that the point Jesus was making was that we become Christ-like. The point was that we follow the light of God within us, as taught by Jesus. (And coincidentally as also taught by Ghandi, Buddha, Martin Luther King Jr., and many other great spiritual leaders.) Let us suppose that when we become Christ-like, regardless of our religion, we have found eternal life. Because being Christ-like, in its highest sense, encompasses our light, and our love, and all that is good and beautiful. And GOD is the life/light/love force in the universe. So he, and we, are eternal.

Love, Peace, and Joy and The Law of Attraction Energy
I want to tell you a bit about my father- who was a happy go lucky person with a constant song in his heart. He never saw the movie The Secret, or went to Yoga classes. He did not read philosophy. And yet he manifested the good around him his whole life long. And when he passed away a week ago Monday I was there with him. I held his hand for a day and a half. He was loathe to let it go. And that time with him- time spent largely in the silence- was both the most heartbreaking and the most love-filled time of my life.
How my father attracted the good was that he lived with a happy heart. He made himself and others happy. So as I speak of how to access the Law of Attraction Energy, it seems fitting to look at how we too can live our lives in what I call 'the happy zone.'
It becomes important then if we want to live in the 'happy zone' of attraction for us to determine what makes us happy. Do you enjoy sitting by a babbling brook? Watching the sky turn red at the end of the day? Watching fireflies? Telling a joke with friends?
For me I can access my peaceful self by reading a spiritual book such as "Conversations with God" or Alanon's "Courage to Change." I can get it through listening to beautiful music or looking at lovely artwork. I can read affirmation cards, or meditate on the musings of the famous spiritual teacher, Thich Nhat Hanh.
As for the space of love, it always happens for me when I am relaxing with people I care for- free of worry or concern for what I 'have to do.' I can cuddle and watch a movie, or just talk or listen to what makes others happy.
As for joy, my dad and I were both fond of the singing at the top of your lungs in the car method of accessing it. We did many a fine concert for the steering wheel, and when we did all cares and worries went away. But the question for you is "What gives me joy?" And as soon as you answer it, you must go about the business of doing it, if you hope for any success at all in accessing the Law of Attraction Energy.
It is certain that we do not access the Law of Attraction Energy by doing things that drain or upset us, such as being with negative people, or watching sad movies. My dad had this tool down pat and when he watched a movie it was The Sound of Music or Oklahoma. He knew instinctively that negativity was best taken in small, limited doses.
So do what makes you feel good. Or do what makes others around you feel good- which will often alter how you feel. And don't do what makes you feel bad very frequently if at all. Follow these simple rules and you will be sure to begin to manifest the good things in life, as well as follow in my dad's footsteps, and thereby keep him alive and with us.

Tools for The Law of Attraction Energy- Body Work
Wouldn’t it be great to have a nice, neat, well-developed set of tools for the Law of Attraction Energy within us? These tools, if they worked and if you used them, would have then have your life work superbly. Or so it is said. Now I am a Law of Attraction kind of person. By nature I am more or less positive, and I seek out ways and means to keep myself that way. In the next several articles I would like to give you the tools that help me stay in that sort of positive mind-set. My hope is that perhaps you too can try my tools, and they may make a difference for you.
Now I am big on looking at the state of the body as an access to our state of mind. After all, if our body is a crumpled up heap of aches, pains, and distress- it becomes very hard for us to stay positive. What more often happens is that we paste a smile over our clenched teeth, and that, my friends, is simply icing on a mudpie...and not a cake. So if you want to truly make a difference in your state of mind, look first at your state of body. Here are my tools for how to work on the body to elevate the state of mind.
A) One thing I suggest is that you lay on a table and relax while someone else takes away the physical manifestation of your stress, worries, and concerns. For this, a deep tissue massage of the style of your choice is best. And it also feels great.
B) Go to a form of chiropractic known as ‘Network Spinal Analysis.’ You will find this to be a wonderful body-mind-spirit experience, and very gentle and healing. I often say that this was one of the single most important things that got me through the most stressful time of my life- and I have found the practitioners of this work, and mine in particular, to be the kindest, gentlest people on earth.
C) Another great form of body work is yoga. Yoga is an age-old form of body work that is slow and methodical ,but has also put many the trained athlete to the test for endurance, strength and stamina. It is a great stress releaser, that you can do it at your own level and pace.
D) Physical exercise is always a favorite of mine. If you like strenuous things like pumping iron, remember that this can cause its own aches and pains, so get a massage afterwards. Otherwise just swim, bike ride, or shoot hoops to elevate your mood and a natural feeling of 'all is well.'
E) And of course I always suggest the all-important candle-lit bath with mineral salts of your choice. It is one sure way to let go of physical tension in the privacy and comfort of your own home. And it doesn’t cost a thing.
Now in this article I only spoke about the physical ways to access the Law of Attraction Energy and put yourself in a positive frame of mind. There are many other, diverse ways which I have experienced, and which have produced miracles in my life. I will talk about these later. Suffice it to say, it is all important that you come to a place of true and real peace, harmony, and happiness. Because if you try to pretend you are there, when you really are not, it is just once again icing on a mudpie. So the trick is to be insightfully honest with yourself when you are not in a place of joy, even as you look at how to get there.
